  10.      dtSearch is copyrighted by DT Software, Inc.  DT Software, Inc. hereby
  11.      grants to shareware disk vendors, computer clubs, user groups, and on-line
  12.      shareware distributors ("Vendors") wishing to distribute dtSearch a license
  13.      to do so subject to all of the following conditions:

  15.      1.  Vendors that are members of the Association of Shareware Professionals
  16.      ("ASP") may distribute the complete dtSearch package without prior
  17.      permission.  Other Vendors must request permission of DT Software, Inc.
  18.      prior to distributing this package.

  20.      2.  The dtSearch package is defined as containing all of the material
  21.      listed in the README.DTS file.  If README.DTS or any files listed in it are

  174.                The purpose of dtSearch is to help you find documents
  175.           quickly.  dtSearch does this by building an "index" of your
  176.           documents that stores location of the words in each document. 
  177.           Since you will sometimes want to search documents that you have
  178.           not indexed, dtSearch can also search without an index -- it just
  179.           takes longer.

  181.                dtSearch is easy to use.  You can access all of its features
  182.           through a simple, pull-down menu interface.  Extensive, context-
  183.           sensitive help (with hypertext cross-references) is always
  184.           available.

  186.                dtSearch can build and use document indexes, so it can
  187.           search large collections of text very quickly -- much faster than
  188.           simple file search programs.  Using dtSearch, an indexed search
  189.           of thousands of pages of documents will only take a few seconds.

  191.                dtSearch does more than just searching for text -- it can
  192.           search for:

  194.                *    Combinations of words, such as "apple and (pear or
  195.                     grape),"

  205.           requests, which can help to reduce the number of "false hits" you
  206.           get in a search.  If you are searching a large text database,
  207.           this can save you a lot of time.

  209.                dtSearch gives you unlimited searching capacity.  One
  210.           document index can store information about up to 15,000
  211.           documents, and you can have as many indexes as you need.  When
  212.           you do an indexed search, you can search multiple indexes by
  213.           simply checking off the ones you want searched.

  215.                dtSearch requires no "importing" or "conversion" of your
  216.           documents.  You simply check off the directories containing the
  217.           documents to search or index, and dtSearch will do the rest.  In
  218.           almost all cases, dtSearch does not even need to be told what

  250.                     search with a few lines of context;
  251.                *    application launching, so you can use your word
  252.                     processor to edit a document retrieved in a search

  255.                     text from retrieved documents and then edit the text

  259.           type of computer, number and type of documents, and the amount of
  260.           memory available.  But to get an idea of how fast dtSearch is,

  288.           1.  Program limits:  Indexes
  289.                *    A single index may contain up to 15,000 documents
  290.                *    A single document may contain up to 60,000 words
  291.                     (about 300 double-spaced pages)
  292.                *    You can have up to 25 indexes in each index library,
  293.                     and you can have an unlimited number of index
  294.                     libraries.
  295.                *    You can have up to 25 macro or field definitions.
  296.                *    A noise word list can hold up to 200 words.  Words
  297.                     after the 200th word in a list will be disregarded.
  298.                *    There is no limit on the number of words in an index or
  299.                     on the number of words starting with a particular
  300.                     letter.
  301.           2.  Program limits:  Searches
  302.                *    A single search request may involve up to 100 words,
  303.                     including wildcard matches.
